Self Help Healthy Blog Carnival

Self Help & Healthy Carnival # 4

Welcome to the April 1, 2010 edition of the healthy blog carnival.  These were the top articles submitted over the past month out of over 137 article. We had many submissions in the self help category as well as issues for teens.

Teenage Peer Pressure

The feature post of this healthy blog carnival is one that all parents should be aware of.  Read this article so that you can watch for signs in your teenagers and hopefully reduce the chances that your teens will give in to peer pressure and participate in this scary game.

This is scary! At first I wasn’t going to publish this one and then realized everyone who has teenagers in their life needs to read it. Cynthia Bateman presents Do You Know The Choking Game? posted at Blog About It, saying, “I knew about the choking game because I’d seen it on TV…”  Watch for the signs in the young people in your life.

This article by Nina Poe is another parenting concern that all parents of teens worry about. She brings us Siblings of the mentally ill – victims too? posted at Reflection on Depression. Nina talks about bullying and teen suicide in this post.

Andrew Edgington brings a remake of the self help program 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous Alcoholics Anonymous 12 Steps Guide On How To Quit Drinking posted at Quit Alcohol Today, saying, “Discover How To Quit Drinking and the Alcoholics Anonymous 12 Steps – Proven At Home Alcohol System.”

My friend Darryl shares how you can find happiness in Create Your Path In Life at Why I Pray In The Shower, saying “I believe I’ve had a lot to do with creating my own path in life, especially in my sobriety” in another self help blog.

Positive Attitude Thinking – Healthy Energy

With all the talk today about positive attitude and positive thoughts more people should have an understanding of their chi or how to channel the energy in their body.

Chris presents How to Feel Your Chi Energy in Just Ten Minutes posted at Martial Development. I really like this article. More people should have an understanding of their chi.

Sarah Scribe presents diet tips and healthy living ideas that will give you All Day Energy: Ways to stay energized all day long posted at Healthy Revelations Blog.

Madeleine Begun Kane presents a cute limerick on how Health Studies Making Us Sick? posted at Mad Kane’s Humor Blog. It is a short humerous read.

Another take on healthy weight management, Skyler Reep presents a well thought out article that is really interesting on How to Gain 25 Pounds posted at Skyler Reep’s Blog, saying, “My goal is to put on 24 pounds of lean mass to increase my body mass index from 21 to 24 over the course of 26 weeks to reach new levels in personal health and fitness.”

Carissa Quinn presents an interesting article on 3 Ways to Use Yoga for Weight Loss posted at Roses and Cherries.com – Herbal and Natural Living.

Diet And Obesity

Believe it or not many of the diet foods that we eat are actually contributing to obesity and other health issues.

Susan Howe hit the nail on the head with this article about diets and 10 “Healthy” Foods That Are Actually Destroying Your Body posted at The Budget Life Blog, saying, “Walk down any grocery store isle and you’ll be bombarded with messages promoting the health benefits of everything from skim milk to diet soda.”

Steve Faber‘s discussion on childhood obesity is a topic that really gets me wound up.  First Lady Michelle Obama Speaks on Healthy Food Choices for Kids? posted at Belly Fat Loser saying, “Is She Barking Up the Wrong Tree?”

This video at Increase Your Metabolism shows how difficult it is to find true whole wheat bread at the grocery store.  No wonder we have an obesity crisis and everyone is on a diet!

Looking for a healthy pizza dinner, Marjorie presents Quick Veggie Pizza posted at Laurel on Health Food, saying, “Some nights you just want a pizza, right? Pick up a ready-made whole grain pizza crust, and prepare this quick and easy veggie pizza.”

Avoid obesity by adding 8-10 fruits and veggies a day to your diet. Christian Adam Articona presents some really nice fruit pictures and the health benefits of eating them in his article Health Talk Fruits for Skin posted at mattscradle, saying, “Fruits that will make you become beautiful”

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of health blogs using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.
